Adult orthodontics
Teeth can move at any age. Adult orthodontics is the same careful plan as for a teenager, on a schedule that fits a working week. Some of our adult patients are the parents of children we see.
A scan on the screen
Dr. Aceves points to your scan on a monitor and shows you what she sees, so you're deciding from the same picture.

What happens
Check-ins come about every six to ten weeks.
- 01
Step 1: A plan visit
Dr. Aceves looks, asks what bothers you, and lays out what she would do and what else you could do.
- 02
Step 2: Records
Photographs and a scan of the teeth.
- 03
Step 3: Braces or aligners go on
Fitted at a visit of about an hour. Sonya shows you how to clean them.
- 04
Step 4: Check-ins
A short visit about every six to ten weeks, then retainers.
If your gums or other teeth need care first, she tells you and works with your dentist.
Comfort, choices and care
Comfort
Teeth feel sore for a few days after a fitting and after a change. Ask us to stop at any point.
If you wait
You can wait. She'll tell you what she'd watch, such as gums and worn teeth.
Risks and after-care
Cleaning takes more care with braces or aligners, and gums that are already tender need to be looked at first. Call us if something breaks.
How it's billed
One fee for the stage, in writing, with a payment schedule you agree to. If you have dental benefits, Kerri reads them first.
How fees work
Questions about adult orthodontics
Am I too old?
No. If your teeth and gums are healthy enough, treatment is an option at any age.
Can I see Dr. Aceves while my child has a check?
Yes. Ask for a plan visit for yourself and we'll find a time around your child's.
Are aligners or braces more noticeable?
Aligners are clear and braces are not. Each has other differences, and she'll go through them.
